Nilufar Moayeri grew up and studied in Istanbul, Turkey where she got her degrees. She got her bachelor’s degree from one of the top European universities in art before going on to studying fashion design for her master’s and continuing to PhD in film. Having studied such diverse art majors, she gained an immense knowledge and experience in all aspects of art. That was her educational background and gave her a base from which to flourish.
Nilufar has taught Art for more than 20 years in Pera Fine Arts Academy and was Pera Art Gallery’s Art Director in Istanbul and Vancouver.
Since 2002, she has been teaching painting and art history at one of the most well-known Fine Arts Universities in Florence, Italy (Palazzo Spinelli), for the summer term.
Nilufar has also written and directed a short film titled, “Amore Mio Firenze”. The movie was shot on location in Florence, Italy.
She used all of the experience she gained through her career to launch the first creative fashion design competition with the help of the Pera Fine Art Academy. This competition grew immensely and is now an annual art event in Turkey.
While working, Nilufar was also painting about five to six hours daily. Besides establishing discipline, this expanded her abilities and gave her the material she needed to have multiple exhibitions. As a young aged artist, she was one of the top international contemporary artists who was able to have their work featured in numerous international art galleries and biennals. Her art has been in many group and solo exhibitions around the world in Paris, Rome, Florence, Milan, Brussels, Istanbul, Peking, New York, Toronto and Vancouver.
Her art work has been purchased, exhibited and appreciated in homes, businesses and galleries in North America, Europe and Turkey.
In her art, she mostly uses female characters and figures of power. She tends to centre each piece around one main character, creating stories around her identity and personality. Nilufar’s art explores elements of emotion, timelessness, attraction, and repulsion in existence. “Every one of my paintings resembles a movie scene that immerses the viewer in a deeply articulate and carefully woven story.”
Nilufar Moayeri has an art studio in North Vancouver, BC where she exhibits her art and teaches many different drawing and painting techniques to art enthusiasts. Nilufar is so proud that she has been able to influence so many students’ lives through painting and art.
“As an instructor, it’s so important for me to inspire my students to develop their own expression and style. I would love to invite everyone to come and see the art work at my studio (Pera Art Gallery). I am also always open to collaborate with other artists art lovers.”
