Eskandar Yamini has established a reputation as a creative social entrepreneur, as well as the President and CEO of Sarmaya Capital Corp.
From establishing notoriety for himself as a successful entrepreneur in Vancouver and the United States to being president and CEO of Sarmaya Capital Corp., Eskandar Yamini’s career continues its upward trajectory, attracting the attention of well-established investors with a strong moral compass.
A Hopeful Future
With a vision to revolutionize residential real estate investment and tenancy in a responsibly way, Yamini co-founded Sarmaya in 2018. The company was started with the belief that safe and well-managed communities help their residents thrive and improve returns. With a focus on multi-family residential assets in the U.S., this Vancouver-based investment fund is driven by social impact and services for residents who live in Sarmaya’s buildings, further supporting their mission for community betterment.
The cornerstone of Sarmaya Capital Corp.’s investment strategy is that of Community Betterment. This concept, of creating additional amenities, structures or services and education centres for the communities of people living in Sarmaya buildings, is based on the notion of doing well while doing good. The aim is to better the lives of the communities in which they invest while simultaneously differentiating Sarmaya investments within the marketplace and providing above average returns for investors.
Yamini continues to be in charge of all facets of Sarmaya’s operation, growth, acquisitions and fundraising, keeping Sarmaya at the forefront of active investment while changing the landscape of impact investing.
“This is a unique business where you can directly change people’s daily lives and make money in the process,” he said.
Far-Reaching Industry Experience
Yamini’s first step in the corporate world was his position as an assistant in a law firm. With over 20 years of experience in financial operations, the management of investment portfolios, new client procurement, public-private partnerships and capital markets, his vast and diverse experience is what gives him an industry-leading edge. In his start, he held a name as one of the youngest top investment advisers at Berkshire Securities Inc. in Montreal and later co-founded an engineering consulting firm in Vancouver by the name of Tala Enterprises where he was director of finance.
With Sarmaya Capital, Yamini used his comprehensive industry experience to create waves of change in Vancouver’s investment landscape and bring new meaning to impact investing. In under three years, Sarmaya owns almost 300 apartment units, with a portfolio targeting returns of 15-20% annually. This portfolio is a direct reflection of the vision and mission on which Sarmaya was founded, helping change the lives of hundreds of people in the community and providing extraordinary returns for investors.
